Do you love that feeling when you hear the post fall onto the door mat?

I do.  But I don't know why, cos I never get any mail that is not junk or bills!  Well not anymore.  I have a pen pal.  When Christine @socalledhomemkr put out a pen pal request on twitter - I jumped at the chance of someone to write to & someone to receive some real snail mail from.

A Letter from America

Couldn't resist the Proclaimers line - are you now singing it in your head? 

I actually didn't realise how happy I would be when I came home from a hard day & bent down to pick up the mail to find a letter addressed to me!  I could tell by the post mark & the feel of the letter - it wasn't some marketing ploy, or a join up scheme, it was real words from a real person.

I was excited to read it.  I waited until I had time to sit down & properly read it.  I also got really excited about my reply & when I started to write I had way more to say than I thought.

The Bloggers Snail Mail

Again on twitter when I saw The Bloggers Snail Mail I had to sign up.  You sign up, get paired with a blogger from a different area, spend a few weeks getting to know them, then send them a a postcard or card with loads of positive words.

What a fab idea?

If I can make someone even a little bit as excited as I was when I saw that letter I will be very proud.  You also send a little gift, something small & meaningful, with a limit of £5.  I love finding little unusual gifts for people & with money limited it will be fab to try get creative with what I send.
