Motivation is what get's you started
You may have noticed I am blogging every day in May #BEDM. I have managed a full week!Don't think I have ever done this before & I must say I am a little bit chuffed with myself :)
The inspiration from Rosalillium for today's post was Motivation, which I thought was rather fitting as I will be posting my weekly weigh in / steps post tomorrow.
I wrote a while back What started my weight loss was my health & wanting to start a family. I would still say those are my biggest motivating factors but it is easy to lose sight of that, especially if I don't have day to day symptoms or see the improvements.
I heard Tony Robbins talk about being motivated as being pulled towards your goals rather than having to push yourself to get there by willpower.
In my mind I can see it would be easy to get from A to B if you are being pulled along
compared to
The hard work & effort it would take to push yourself every inch of the way
Especially if point B is a few miles down the track!
So how to get that pull? Tony reckons you need to make your vision so compelling that you are pulled towards it. I do find this guy very inspirational.
You have to start with the end in mind
This also comes from Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, so maybe there is something in itTo be honest I don't think I have ever truly thought about what the end would look like. I think there is a part of my that is holding back, a part that thinks I will never get there. This is definitely a limiting belief if ever I heard it! Note to self work on that one.
As well as my step goals, this week I am setting some time aside to really visualise what I want from this lifestyle change.
I'm also going to use some NLP techniques such as visualising this future & then catapulting myself into that life and then run through a day in the life of that new me, see how good it feels, see what healthy choices I make & feel how great my body works.
Wish me luck!
What motivates you?
Any motivation tips?
