gin in teacups vintage fair dundee

Last weekend Mr B was away with work so it was a perfect chance for me to go to my first vintage fair of the year!  I love vintage finds & one of my favourite places used to be the Antiques Centre at Doune, but since we've moved I haven't had a good rummage through old stuff in ages.  I found the Gin & Teacups Vintage and Craft Market on Facebook & as it was in Dundee I just had to go for a wee nosey.

Unfortunately it looks like it is the last Gin & Teacups market due to the organisers new jobs & unable to commit to as many weekends.  The market even made the news, which popped up on my twitter timeline.

all the fun of the vintage fair

There was some lovely stalls & I went round several times taking in the stock.  Many homemade crafters showing of their wares.  Lots of jewellery, so it was inevitable I had to come away with something.  I went for a bronze coloured cuff with a metallic resin - it's very pretty, a little bit whimsical & a little bit different.  I took loads of cards but I'm not quite sure who sells this but I will update once I find out!  this picture doesn't quite pick up the pinks & blues of the resin but hey i'm no photographer & my iPhone camera has it's limits.

I also couldn't resist a homemade buy!  I do love crafting so was immediately drawn to the lady on Cridhe Ghabhsainn (Gaelic for The Heart of Galson - a village in lewis where designer Mairi grew up!) knitting away.  She had some lovely hats, brooches of tweed & notebook covers.  I went for a brightly coloured purple diary.  I was needing a diary anyways & now I have a pretty cover I can keep too!

It was a lovely wee Sunday out.  I even enjoyed finding my way round Dundee city centre - I never know where to park!  Actually the East Chambers building was beautiful & the square reminded me of Aberdeen, where I went to uni.  I need to stop being so nervous bout taking pictures in public as they didn't turn out as good as I had hoped - they don't do the building justice.

I've already got my eye on the next vintage fair I want to go to.  It's Carnaby Market Fair Mother's Day Special also in Dundee!  When I lived closer to Glasgow & Edinburgh I never really made the effort to go to things around us but now there seems to be plenty vintage & craft fairs around I have no excuse.

Do you like to support local fairs?
Do you buy vintage or handmade?
